Changing Your Locks

At Sylverkey Locksmithing Services we are able to replace your locks with new ones or for a more efficient and economical option we can change the insides of the lock to stop the old keys from working and making another key work (this is called re-pinning or re-keying) using this technique we can make one key work all or most of your locks including security screen doors and garage doors. Some of the most frequently asked questions that we get are:

Does re-keying a commercial premise cost more than a residential property? The answer is no. The cost of re-keying is a fixed price and is delivered as a fixed service.
What does re-keying a lock include? When we re-key your lock we remove the lock cylinder from the door, we strip the lock cylinder apart and replace the pins with new ones to suit a new key, we provide up to 2 new keys per combination, we then re-install the lock cylinder onto the door and check the operation of the lock and the closing of the door, if minor servicing of the lock or an adjustment of the strike plate is required we do that as well within the scope of re-keying the lock.
Are there any “extras” when re-keying a lock? The only “extras” that you should expect or accept are if you want more keys than are provided with the re-key. The only other situations that might result in a different or higher charge is when there is another problem like your hinges or door is broken or the lock is broken however our locksmiths will be able to advise you of a problem like that before any work has commenced and can give you a proper quote for your approval.

I would like to thank you for the services you provided whilst cutting four keys for my mother’s unit in Edith St Wynnum. On advising the initial set of four keys were not suitable you re-cut them and provided four more. These too were not suitable and you then had one of your staff visit her residence within minutes of my advice and appraise the situation. That resulted in the staff member removing the lock and returning to your shop to further appraise the situation. This resulted in a further cutting of keys, re-visiting the residence and re-installing the lock whereupon the matter was brought to a successful conclusion.
